According to Crackles (1990) it is most likely to be S. anglica rather than S. x townsendii, the material was almost always inaccessible. The plants in St Andrew's Dock [TA 07 27] are S. anglica. The grass is thought to have been introduced to the Humber at Welwick before 1932 (Wilson 1938).
