This plant has become very abundant in many parts of Hull. It is very commonly found on land that has been sprayed with herbicide, such as the base of lampposts. Whether it is a rapid coloniser or it has some resistance to the herbicides used is unclear. Crackles (1990) clearly regards the plant as relatively infrequent.
